January 2018 Accreditation Action: Accept the Progress Report.
 
Rationale: The program is compliant with all Standards.
 
Accreditation Award: Continuing Accreditation.
 
June 2017 Accreditation Action: Grant 10 years of Initial Accreditation with a Progress Report. The following Standards are Partially Met:
Standard 7. Document Program Modifications. A word document memo from the Program Director to the institution’s Graduate Curriculum Committee dated February 10, 2017 requests discontinuance of the track for AHIMA RHIA eligibility within the Master’s in Health Informatics program. The institution has reinstated the baccalaureate degree HIM program which is the place where RHIA exam eligibility resides as a CAHIIM accredited program.
Standard 9. Program-Specific Curriculum. The Program has made substantial improvements in addressing the deficient content areas identified by the site visit Team. While onsite there were issues with the Team’s access to the LMS system and a number of course content areas that could not be validated during that time. Since then, the Program has provided extensive documentation of the activities that were not available for review, missing from syllabi that were reviewed, or content in need of further expansion. There are five (5) curriculum components that remain in need of expansion of content to be in compliance.
Standard 19. Students. The program is currently using the program director as official advisor for all students. In reality several others are advising students. As the program grows, it must implement a policy and procedure regarding advisement for the MHI students. The policy and procedure should include an effective and accessible academic advising system for these students, as well as readily available career and placement advice.  The Program Response appended a ‘draft’ student manual with editorial comments. This does not satisfy the request for a formal policy and procedure on student advisement for the MHI students for the future. As the program grows a systematic procedure is needed.
