Standard 3. Program Evaluation. While an employer and graduate survey form were provided in the program’s response, no data from the surveys was provided.
Standard 21. Learning Resources. The student accessibility to HIM software tools, specifically an Encoder, was not demonstrated during the site visit. The program does have plans to include medical coding related exercises that require the use of an Encoder.
Standard 24. The Curriculum. Overall, one issue is the lack of detail on the revised assignment. Board reviewers do not have access to what was reviewed on site. Therefore, the entire assignment, discussion question, or project needs to be provided to demonstrate compliance with the required taxonomic level. Supporting Body of Knowledge: Pharmacology noted as partially met at onsite review. No provided evidence of changes to depth of this course. For standard 25, the program responded that changes were made to the related Pharmacology course; however, no revised syllabus or course assignments were provided in the response.
Standard 25. Curriculum Sequence. Revise term 3 to follow CPT coding prerequisite requirements and to provide a sound coding educational experience for students. Stated changes noted in the program response to the site visit report do not seem to have been fully implemented.
