December 2018 Accreditation Action: Accept the Progress Report.
 
Rationale: The program is compliant with all Standards.
Accreditation Award: Continuing Accreditation.
May 2018 Accreditation Action: Grant ten years of Initial Accreditation with a Progress Report. The following Standards are Partially Met:
Standard 7. Document Program Modifications. Evidence is not provided to show how annual assessments are used to inform program modifications. Evidence of how the program intends to involve the Advisory Board is not provided.
Standard 8. Core Concentration or Specialized Track. The program must describe the degree(s) awarded on completion of the program of study. Six credit hours include a Capstone and Internship. It is unclear what the difference is between these two required courses. Can a student complete one without completing the other?
Standard 9. Program-Specific Curriculum. Rubrics should list assignment criteria including the depth and breadth of what needs to be included to achieve a certain score. This allows students to evaluate their own work prior to submission to the instructor. Curriculum changes will occur during the next teaching cycle. Coursework assessments/rubrics should align to the mission of the program so help the program determine the degree to which these mission statements are being fulfilled.
Standard 11. Faculty. It is unclear how many of the 2017 graduates began the program in 2016. The enrollment table is unclear. With two overlapping cohorts each year, the sequencing of courses is an important consideration. Faculty are required to teach at least one course per year. Is this sufficient to service the curriculum for two overlapping cohorts each year? The program response above states that “The program runs two cohorts of students each year. The maximum number of students at any given time is approximately 80 students. The faculty to student ratio of 10:1 is sufficient to meet the needs of the student population.” However the program states that there are six full time faculty and one adjunct faculty. It is unclear what is required of the adjunct faculty? Faculty to student ratios appear to be 12-13 : 1 is this sufficient to support effective and regular student /faculty interactions?
